The deputy minister of Agriculture for Forest, André de Jesus Moda said on Thursday in Luanda that the current forest policy will increase the price of cubic metre of Angolan timber in the international market and will make it more rational and sustainable the exploration of forest resources.

Speaking to Angop, the official said that the price of timber in Angola is USD 500 price close to Spanish and French market where the price of the raw material cost USD 960.

According to André Moda the government wants to establish order and maintain discipline in the unbridled exploration of those resources that are renewable and where economy must protect because oil and diamond are not renewable.

Studies from the Institute of Forest Development (IDF) pointed that Angola has a potential of more than 300,000 meters cubic of wood to be explored per year.
