2010 Sino-Russia Forest Sustainable Trade Policy Consultation and Training Conference was Held Successfully

Organized by Forest Products Trade Research Center of National Forestry Bureau, (WWF) World Wide Fund for Nature, Manzhouli Wood Industry Development and Management Office and CWI, 2010 Sino-Russia Forest Sustainable Trade Policy Consultation and Training Conference was held at Manzhouli Hotel on January 20th. The issues such as related policies on Sino-Russia overseas investment, the supply of sustainable raw material from Russia, legality verification of logging and trade, and the risk prevention and aversion of investments and trades in Russia had been introduced and explained by Chinese and Russian government officers, experts and entrepreneurs. Approximately 100 people from Chinese and Russian government, media, and over 30 enterprises in 10 provinces in China have attended the conference.
   
    Mr. Jin Zhonghao, GFTN-China Manager, WWF Beijing Office, expressed that, as one of the training programs of Green Wood Initiative, the conference provided a chance for communication and training regarding the legality and sustainability of Chinese enterprises’ purchasing of Russian wood. It also helped more Chinese corporations understand the significance of the issue.
