Alabama-based southern yellow pine sawmill McShan Lumber Co has achieved Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) chain of custody certification.
McShan has an annual production of 28 million board feet of rough and planed southern yellow pine, with half the output exported to about 27 countries.
“Chain of custody certification means we will be able to service the increasing market demand for forest products from responsible sources, which is good for our business and good for our forests,” said company vice-president Grover Allgood.
