From euwid-wood-products.com: The New Zealand construction products group Fletcher Building is abandoning another two wood-based-panel facilities. The company announced on 5 June 2009 the planned closure of the Kumeu chipboard works in New Zealand. The works had raised its output after investing in expansion work concluded in June 2006 and exported part of the extra volumes to Australia, but had since focused increasingly in the New Zealand market. According to Fletcher Building, the reduction in demand for chipboard and the ensuing surplus capacity severely impaired the Kumeu works’ earnings.
