Oriented Strand Board (OSB) imports and exports decreased in the first half of 2008. The total import volume of OSB in China was 12,923 ton in the first two months of 2008, up 18.5.67% over the same period of last year; the import value totaled $6.16 million, which increased by 256.13% compared with $1.73 million on the same period of 2007; the unit price increased by 24.67% to US$476.75/ton.
The total export volume of OSB was 1,202 ton in the first two months of this year, which dropped by 63.94% over the same period of 2007; the export value amounted to $450,900, down 52.19%; the unit export price increased by 32.58% to US$375.06/ton in the first two months of 2008.
The drop of Chinas OSB imports and exports showed that, the implementation of policies to control the export of products with high cost of resources have given initial results. Besides, the rise of unit export price showed the high quality of OSB product, this will greatly raise the competitiveness in the international market.
