Imported Logs from Inner Mongolia Erlianhot Declined Gradually

Influenced by the rise of export tax rate of logs and the adjustment of export policies in Russia, the structure of wood importation was changed greatly in the Inner Mongolia Erlianhot region. The proportion of lumber imports increased gradually, whereas, the log imports declined in Erlianhot port. According to the statistic, the wood imports in Erlianhot port was 10,091 batches in the first five months of this year, down 28.59% over the same period of 2007. Log imports amounted to 8,981 batches, down 32.62% over the same period of last year. Lumber imports were 1,110 batches, up 38.23% over the previous year. The proportion of lumber imports increased to 11% in the first five months of 2008 form 5.68% in 2007.
