Statistics from the Customs show that in the first five months of 2008, the import and export value of Chinas foreign trade totaled $1012.08 billion, up 26.2% over the same period last year. The export value was $545.05 billion, up 22.9%; the import value amounted to $467.03 billion, up 30.4%.
Its show that, EU was the biggest trade partner of China in this year, the total value of trade with EU was $166.02 billion, up 27.9%. At the same time, US was the second trade partner of China, the total value of trade with US amounted to $130.47 billion, up 13.3%.
In all the exports, the traditional commodities showed a good momentum of stable growth in the first five months of 2008, the exports of textiles was $26.07 billion, up 26.3%; the furniture exports jumped $10.95 billion, up 30%.
