Logs imported via Yangzhou port reached 1.9894 million m3 in 2007, jumping 51% over 2005; the unit import price hit a new high to USD217.2/m3, up 18.3% year on year. However, due to the prohibition or restriction of log export in almost all conventional timber exporting countries, it is expected that the import price of logs will set a new record and hence the market price of furniture will go up by a large margin accordingly.
The import volume of logs via Yangzhou port was 1.317 million and 1.184 million m3 in 2005 and 2006 respectively.
