Dasso Bamboo Flooring Made by DaZhuang: Hot in the International Market with Its High Quality

About DaZhuang

Located in the beautiful city of Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang Province, Hangzhou Dazhuang Floor Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as DaZhuang) successfully converts bamboo forests in deep mountains into high quality bamboo products in the international market.

As an enterprise earlier engaged in the research & development (R&D), production, and sales of bamboo flooring, paneling and decorations, DaZhuang, with big orders coming from various clients thick and fast around the world, has laid its exotic flooring to the exhibition hall of BMW, to the office building of Nike Germany, to Tobu Hyakkaten in Tokyo, to IBM office building in Europe, etc, has won the bid for ceiling project of the departure hall of Madrid Barajas International Airport, and has also fixed its bamboo interior decorations to BMW.

Core Competitiveness

Even at the beginning of its foundation, DaZhuang laid its focus on the international market. DaZhuang’s success in earning international clients’ recognition over a decade lies in the high quality of its products and its unswerving R&D of new products. DaZhuang has acquired CE certificate and passed FSC certification.  

In 1993, DaZhuang, still a workshop in mountains then, produced its first bamboo floor. Since then, the company has developed 2-layer bamboo engineered flooring, 3-layer bamboo-wood engineered flooring, and sliced bamboo veneer. Now DaZhuang has over ten patents in China, as for 2-layer bamboo engineered flooring, sliced bamboo veneer, etc; has the patent for 2-layer bamboo engineered flooring in the US; and registered patent for sliced bamboo flooring in the Netherlands. 

DaZhuang applies a series of advanced techniques to its flooring production, such as Dasso-Loc (5G/2G from VALINGE), click system, and connection system: T&G. Each piece of Dasso bamboo flooring is subject to over 20 working procedures, 7 times of lacquering and more than 10 times of testing. “The R&D of Dasso flooring focuses on the unsatisfied demand of our clients. The profit margin in the bamboo product market is huge. And to develop the personality of bamboo products will be the trend in the future,” said Lin Hai, president of DaZhuang. 

A Responsible Enterprise

Now the competition is fierce in the bamboo flooring market. There are over 100 manufacturers of bamboo flooring in the country, mainly distributed in provinces abundant in bamboo like Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hunan, Fujian, Jiangsu and Anhui. Of the enterprises, there are about 65 with the output over 200,000 m2.

But at present, the production environment has never been worse. In the past few years, the product price dived by 40%, whereas the cost of raw materials jumped by 35%. In addition, the appreciation of RMB and domestic enterprises scrambling to export with low price, all brings enterprises’ profits to a plummet in the international market. In the domestic market, low price of bamboo flooring is usually at the expense of low quality: the average up-to-standard rate is only 50% and the good and bad are intermingled. This in fact spoils the whole image of bamboo flooring.

DaZhuang’s response to this can be divided into two aspects. As to the shrink of profit margin, DaZhuang puts product quality in the first place and targets its products for high-end consumers; then it endeavors to enhance the added value by endowing bamboo flooring with more cultural elements (say, design, color, etc).

In terms of raw materials, DaZhuang on one hand fosters its own 50,000-mu (3,333 ha) forestry base, and on the other hand forms an integrated supply chain by cooperating with 6 factories and 39 raw material bases.
DaZhuang also involves itself in the enacting of industry standards.

Spreading Bamboo Culture to the World

At present, DaZhuang has established good cooperation relationships with the famous enterprises in the Netherlands, Germany, the US, Japan, and Russia. With Europe and the US the biggest market, DaZhuang exports its Dasso bamboo flooring to 27 countries. In 2006, DaZhuang exported one million m2 of bamboo products, 50% of which to the US. 

The price hike of solid wood flooring offers unprecedented opportunity of development for bamboo flooring industry. Bamboo flooring features unique pureness, elegance, special grain and color. Besides, it has the intrinsic properties of bamboo material: high density, fine tenacity and elasticity, small coefficient of heat conductivity, and unaptness to deform. Dasso uses only Mao Bamboo (phyllostachys pubescens; can be harvested four years later) because its diameter, color, structure, density and strength are most suitable for the production of bamboo flooring and furniture paneling.

China is rich in bamboo resources and is also the cradle of bamboo culture. With the export of Dasso bamboo flooring to the world, DaZhuang also diffuses this culture worldwide.
