PREFACE |
1.Introduction of China Wood Based Panel Industry - At present, there are over 6,000 manufacturers in China producing nearly 60 million cubic meters annual.
- In 2006, the export of plywood, fiberboard and particle board increased 48.71%, 51.39% and 49.03% respectively compared with that in 2005. Most of them are exported to USA, Canada, United Kingdom, South Korea and Japan.
- In 2006, the import of plywood, fiberboard and particle board decreased 29.83%, 16.24% and 14.66% respectively compared with that in 2005. Most of them are imported from Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand.

| 2.Associated Industry— Flooring & Furniture In 2005, China wood flooring production amounted to 300 million square meters, and the export was up to 98.85 square meters, which was 2.15 times of export volume in 2004.
In 2005, the output of wood furniture in China was over 100 million pieces, and the export was up to 211.6 million pieces，which was 1.2 times of total export volume in 2004.
The growth of domestic and foreign markets demand of wood flooring and wood furniture drives development of China wood based panel industry.
3.Raw Materials Supply
The short supply of raw materials and a series of adjusted and revised policy in 2006 affected China wood based panels export, especially the export of plywood.

During the conference, the annual meeting of CNFPIA - Plywood Special Committee and CNFPIA – MDF Special Committee will be held at the same time.

1. The emphasis of furniture manufacturing re-location to theYangtze River Delta Region from thePearl River Delta Region, and has also accelerated the development of the wood based panel industry into the Yangtze River Delta Region .
2. Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai (with centralization by Shanghai) has become the most important manufacturing and exporting area for wood based panel. This area plays a significant role in the production and marketing of wood based panel in China and the world.
